Some choose by looks. I sit down amongst them and let them pick me! Whoever likes me best, goes home. I've picked some really great pets that way.

Sit down and let them come to you, the animal will pick you. Thats what everyone says.

We have a very large bodied lab and when we were picking a puppy out with the intention of someday breeding the two together, we tried to pick the puppy that would be the biggest so we could breed larger dogs. We picked the one that looked the biggest and we ended up with a very petite femanine dog. After breeding the two and watching the puppies grow, we later learned that we should have payed more attention to the size of her paws. The bigger the paws as a puppy the bigger the dog will be. Regardless we ended up with a litter of 9 precious puppies that varied in all sizes as they grew.

I agree with how you pick your pets. I do the same and also watch their attitudes and the way they play to see if that is what I want for a pet.
