Q: How do you beat your dogs winter blues?

I have an American Staffordshire Terrier who has tons of energy. He gets cold really easily in the winter time and doesn't like to go out as much. How should I keep my dogs physical needs up in the winter?

I take my dogs to work with me. I'm a dog groomer and we have a dog day care at my facility. It is so nice because they have a day of play and come home very tired. I only take them once a week and does wonders for their dispositions. I can come home from work and they just want to sleep. It wears them out for a couple days.

Come to think of it... my pit bull gets very cold and uninterested in activity during the Winter months too. I did get Rox a dog coat and winter shoes... she seemed to play longer in the snow.

I love Michelle B's suggestions!

a sweater usually works, but i do have short haired dogs and it is hard for them to cope in the winter when it is extremely cold. i would say maybe just play with your dog in the house or take it for a short walk in the winter. thats what i do, and when its not as cold i put a sweater on my dogs and take them snowshoeing or skiing.
