Q: How do I get my MinPin to lose weight?
What am I doing wrong? Maybe she has a thyroid condition, I'll have to have that checked next week. She's 15 pounds and the vet wants her to get to between 10 and 11, and I totally agree. She was spayed in February and now I'm fearful of weight gain, which has come true. I've put her on weight watchers food, 1/4 cup in the am, 1/4 cup in the pm and she's even gotten more exercise with the puppy chasing her around.... .hmmmm any suggestions on a good weight loss/management food?
EDIT: Yes, she goes for walks, maybe I'll take her for longer ones, she's usually good for a 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile. Good idea about feeding 4 times a day, and no, she doesn't get the puppy food, he finishes his in seconds :) and she's fed in another room with the door closed. Thanks for the advice!

min pins need as much exercise as a big dog and by what I hear are prone to weight gain if not fed and exercised properly boxers are very much the same way.. some dogs gain weight after spay but most don't.. it is one of the reasons people use to not spay/ neuter. Do you take her for walks?
