Just pick a good food and feed her 3 times a day in amounts for her breed size. It's better to feed often than to feed large amounts all at once. It will take some time. If you not sure what food to feed ask your vet.

Make sure you have alerted the proper authorities to make sure no one is looking for the dog. Just because you find a dog doenst mean it is a stray.....it might be, but who knows. There could be an owner out there looking for it. Most shelters you can put up a found poster and tell the officers the description of the dog and keep the dog at your house. I believe it is 2 weeks that you have to actively search for the owners, as in flyers, asking around, newspaper ads, alerting the animal control. It is against the law to harbor a stray. If I lost my dog the first place I would look is at the shelters. I would be heartbroken if someone just kept her cause they found her.

Forgot to mention. Has the dog seen a vet and been checked for parasites and had vaccinations?
