It has been a while since I have had one,but I would think that if you plan on only the one fish, it would be relatively inexpensive. It just depends upon the size of the tank and how big you plan to go! Good luck, they are beautiful fish. I always had mine in a community fish tank and never had a solitary fish.

a betta will run around 2.99 and up, you will need a bowl, water conditioner, food, some gravel, maybe a plant, I"d say around 15.00-18.00

Jessie is correct the Betta himself is around $3.00, if you go with one of the Betta Tanks in a box it will include a tank, hood with light, pump, air line and a plastic plant. The entire kit is about $25.00 and well worth it, if you go with this set up (tank with airation) with a water conditioner and food total would be @ $30.00 but your Betta will be with you for years. Congrats, they are beautiful and so fun to watch, and if you spend some time with him he will interact with you, I actually use to feed mine by hand, he would come up to eat, he was sort of a little dog in water.
