Was it the eyes? The attitude? Something indescribable? How did you decide whether to adopt or buy from a breeder?

I want to say I've chosen all my pets because of their personality, but in truth, two of them were adopted because I was afraid no one else would give them a home! I have four cats. The last two that I adopted are black, and I took them because the shelter had so-oo many black cats at the time, that I was afraid they would be overlooked. Neither one of these cats was very socialized. In fact, Yum-Yum, who had been abandoned at a vet's office for 3 months, hissed whenever I tried to pet him for the first 6 months! I'm happy to say that both of these cats are settling in well. Yum-Yum comes to cuddle with me on his own now, and the other black cat is turning into a sweetheart, too!

My Lab Emma was the livliest pup of the litter so O picked her. My second lab I fostered form the shelter and she never went back so i guess she picked me. My third dog, Abby, was a stray we took in.

The two kittens I have now that I am fostering, I picked because they were the two who kept coming towards me and then running away when I went to pet them. I loved how curious they were and knew I would have fun with them!
