After being on this site awhile now, I have seen pet names from the very common to the extremely rare that probably has its own special meaning that only the family knows. Even the common names, still hold a special meaning behind them as the reason you chose it for your pet. Some I know pick the name based on color of the dogs coat, personality, and something that has special meaning. Some takes weeks to find that perfect name and some just know instantly. I was just wondering the background on how your pet got his/her name. For me, Sammy got his name because of his coloring, he looked just like a chocolate sammy bar. Buddy got his name because Sammy was so fearful of other dogs, we got a dog to be Sammy's buddy and help him with his fear and Lucky just because I felt he was so lucky to come home to us and we were so lucky to have him! For the most part, these names were picked pretty instantaneous, so that's why there not very creative or unique. Lucky is the only purebred but I still haven't registered him but when I do I know his registered name will have Lucky Charm in it. Some of the names that dogs are registered with are more creative than I think I'm capable of coming up with. So, fill us in...how did you choose your pets name?

his is a hard one! I am very undecisive! I had a cat once that I named smokey because she was grey, but that name never fit, I always called her Kitty. So, she became Kitty. Noone ever knew she had a different name! My other animals were named by my children, luckily, or else they would have all ended up as Kitty's & doggies!! I can read baby name books for months and never find a name I like, so good luck to you!

Well, I don't know. I read some baby books but nothing fit. "Rilee" just came to me one day, but I'd had him for weeks (got him at 8 weeks old). It fits him perfectly as, even at almost 11, he's always riled up. Don't rush- it'll happen.

all but one of my friend's pets has come with a name. she found her last cat in the parking lot of an ice cream store. named her 'robbin' as in baskin robbins! for her foster kittens, she goes online and looks up cute names; often ones that rhyme. her last fosters were named jan, julianne, leighanne, suzanne and tarzan. she'll often name them by their personality. adora-bella was very beautiful but clutzy. avril, french for april, was born in april.
get the idea?
good luck.
