How can people get a pet and have it for 10 yrs and then decide they need to "rehome" them?
I just dont get it.
Craigslist almost made me cry today!
I wonder how some people can think of pets as disposable things and others like us would never even think of rehoming our pets.
I wonder if its how we were raised?
ugh... poor pets....

i see that all the time on craigslist. makes you sick, doesn't it? on the rare occasion, people really do need to find a new home for their animal, but usually it's due to an uncompromising owner whose priorities are askew. if i'm feeling particularly feisty {and have the time} i like to send them emails just to make them feel bad. those people piss me off and i think someone should speak up for the animal. but to answer your question, yes, i believe it is how they're raised. i was brought up to treat animals w/respect and consideration and was always taught that you never bail on an animal or let them suffer. however, i think many people were raised thinking animals are possessions, not intelligent feeling creatures, and that those possessions are disposable. i don't think these people understand the abandonment they go through when re-homed.

I can relate to this person. They probally do not see it as dumbing a pet off somewhere.I had to give a dog i had had for 5 years but i found that when he got sickk i couldnt care for him any longer and plus my mom was fixen to have a baby so we found a nice family to take care of him and i think it was a lot better for him that him felling neglected by the lack of care and the attetion the baby would take up....So please next time dont judge becouse sometimes the people have good and welll ment reason behind the deciosin they make:)
