My dog is recently adopted and doesn't know how to fetch a ball or play with a toy rope. I was wondering what I can do to get him to understand he can play with these toys. What can I do since he doesn't know how?

Maybe your dogs doesn't like balls or ropes. One of my dogs only likes stuffed animals. On the other hand my other dog likes balls and stuffed animals(whatever she is in the mood for).So maybe your dog doesn't realize that the ball and rope is hers.My dog does that because the other dog gets mad if she has her stuffed animal. So I keep putting their toy by them and eventually she realizes that it is hers.Or maybe your dog would rather a different toy.

Dont mess with the toys or try to let let him get it just put the toy by his bed and let him know that those toys belong to him and see what happens

let your dog get use to the toys to know that there his/her and then once he/she starts to play with the toys by itself then start to play.
