I like having Tito beside and he loves watching out the window when I've got errands to run.The other day I had to stop quickly , I heard a thud behind me.My first thought was Tito had fallen and my heart skipped a beat til I realized he was asleep in the seat next to me.So I really need a safety seat so Tito and I both can enjoy our outings.Where do I get one and who makes them better yet do they work?????

Restraining your pet is a good idea, but try not to use the front seat. Your pet could be at risk in a crash if the air bag activates.

We use a booster seat that has a clip in it that attaches to Tia's harness in hubbys truck.Safe yet she can still sit next to him and see out the window.

I would suggest a booster seat and/or a restraint belt. They should sell these at your local pet store.

I do a number of things depending on the size of the dog. Keep them in a crate or put a harness and seatbelt thru the harness. I never let my dogs free in the car as it is too easy for them to get hurt.

I have a car booster seat for my little dog. It is secured by the seat belt. A strap attaches her harness to the seat belt. She loves the booster seat because she can see out.For your dogs safety, always use a harness instead of a collar and never let them ride in front.Air bag deployment can be fatal for a pet.

The really good pet stores have little carriers that hook over the back of the seat and have a means for belting your dog into the carrier. These are very effective for the enjoyment of the ride for the dog and keeping your dog safe in the event of an accident.

Get a car booster seat! They make them for little dogs to look out the window, while still being safely strapped in the car. Here's one at Petsmart for $50. www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2755176

A dog can be hurt in a crash going as slow as 30 miles an hour-or at least that is what I have read. I would go to a big pet store and look for belts to secure them in the back seat as an air bag can hurt them.

I don't own a dog but I know they have harnesses out there for dogs to wear that clip into seatbelts. Then if you stop suddenly he wouldn't go flying forward with the momentum. I know when I travel with my cats, they are each in their own carrier and then I loop the seatbelt through the carrier's handle and click it in place. That is also something you could do with a small Chihuahau. Good luck!
