Q: How can I reduce shedding?

I have a Blue Heeler and he sheds like crazy. I know people say different dog foods and other things can reduce shedding. I have the Furminatior brush and the kit and i use that often. Any other suggestions?

I use the Furminator too and it really helps. I also give my dog a multi vitamin that has brewers yeast and omega fatty acids which helps with shedding and keeps his skin and coat healthy. But shedding can never be completely elimated so I just bought that Bissell Pet hair vacuum... it works great! :)
If your dog seems to be shedding more than he should I would take him to the vet... he could have a medical problem that is causing this.

Frequent brushing and add brewers yeast to his diet. That also helps with shedding. It sounds like you are doing just about all you can do! Good luck.

I brush my pooches every day and give them bathes every week. I have them on a high quality kibble diet only. No people food or can food. I give an occasional natural dog treat. This works great for my pups. I have very little shedding in my home. Good luck ;-)

Daily grooming and good food are the way to go. Also if you want seeing a professional groomer at least in the spring and fall ( when dual coat dogs start to blow coat) or every month if you can helps keep the dead hair to a minimum. My German shepherd also shed more when his skin was dry and I found that using a good quality shampoo with conditioners in it help cut some of his shedding back. You can't completely stop shedding but those are some things that should help. Hope it works for you!

The furninator has worked really well for me. Use it often and feed your dog a good quality food. Those are really the only things I have found that help.

The Furminator shampoo before you brush helps release tons of shedding hair and Salmon oil put in your pet's food also helps reduce shedding.
