Q: How can I get my dog to have better social skills??
She does not like other dogs, primarily females if we happen to be outside, and she sees someone walking by with their dogs, We can hang on for dear life, she will charge after them and it makes it very tense!

Is she spayed? if not get it done! Second consult a dog trainer.

I agree consult a professional trainer, IF you have a good educated one in your area.
Your energy is important in these situations...if you tense up when you see a dog, your dog learns that that other dog is a danger...stay calm, and in control, and walk/run the opposite direction FAST (Not in fear ,but to "snap" your dog out of an obsessive trait). Or if you have friends with dogs, have them walk around and by you while you distract your dog with a favorite toy or treat (a really special treat she loves, but doesn't often get). Have then start off VERY far away, when your dog remains calm PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE. (Oh and make sure your dog has had ALOT of exercise before hand). After lots of trials, have your friends get closer and closer, will take days if not months...But PRAISE is a key along with staying calm....If you can find a good professional trainer (ask about their education and experiance....both count) then it is best to have them work with your dog....if not stay calm do some research and ALWAYS ALWAYS have your dog on a good collar and leash.
