My very young cat Versace always bites me(although in a loving way) when ever I go to pet and snuggle with her. How can I train her to stop biting?

She is probably teething. Give her something to chew on that will help her cut her teeth on something better than you!

I would wait until she lets go and when she does grab her mouth

If your cat is young, it may still have sore gums from teeth coming in. But when the cat does bite, I would freeze until she lets go. Then have a cat chew toy handy to give her. Your cat is showing affection to you in cat language. I hope your cat out-grows the habit.

the only one on here you should listen to is ourstaff. the other two...really? pop her on the nose or spray her w/water? fear based tactics are not only crude, but they promote insecurities and sometimes aggression.

The spray bottle technique is my vote. Cats don't like it yet you are not hurting them. Good luck to you!

When the cat starts biting freeze tell it in a firm but gentle voice "No bite" and slowly set it on the floor when it lets go. Repeat this every time the cat starts to bite.
