I am looking for a doberman pinscher to add to my family. I will be moving out of my mom's house in a little over a year and would like to have her by then but i'm not sure what to look for when searching breeders. I was also wondering about how big do they get or does that vary deppending on the breeders? I would really appreciate all the help I can get. Thank You

www.akc.org There is a lot of information about different breeds. If you live in a tick area make sure you use revolution once a month or something to keep the ticks and fleas off. Erlichia is a nasty disease for dobies that comes from ticks. Good luck. I personally enjoy the minpin. The tiny ones!

dobermans make great companions, but one from a reliable breeder will cost you quite a bit. there are plenty available from rescues and shelters that still have outstanding personalities. however, if you're looking for a good breeder, you can do an online search for a doberman club around your area and just call around. a reputable breeder will know the breed standards and their dogs will be very well taken care of. ask the breeder about health risks dobermans are prone to and ask about any health risks in the puppy's lineage. a good breeder will show you the mother and the kennel, if they refuse or tap dance around it, it's a shady operation. walk away and report them.

I always suggest rescueing dogs and not using breeders.
Breeders just add to the overpopulation of pets!

many breeders breed for different things like size. i had a friend who bred newf and like the real large one. she had a friend who bred them to be a little smaller. the temperment is the most important thing. you can contact the qkc and telling them what you ae looking for and they may be able to steer youto a breeder near you that breeds for the quilities you are looking for

Find a doberman rescue, there are many looking for a home & they can match you & they take the time to know the dog, and it sounds like you will need a dog that gets along with other animals & does not have a strong prey drive, sometimes it's better to just have 1 or 2 pets that you can afford to take care of & give them the love they deserve.
