Q: Help! adopted dog with problem's

I adopted a neglected puppy from our local shelter a few week's ago. I was aware at adoption that he had not been potty trained. Now I have tried everything to train him that I know. Nothing seem's to be working. Our other small dog uses wee-wee pad's and we need him to do the same if he is going to stay. We are both disabled and cannot take him outside for potty time. Does anyone have a suggestion for training him beyond the firm "NO" and scooping him up and rushing him to a pee pee pad, with love and praise if he get's it right? He is driving us nut's! He peed on my slipper's while I was wearing them!

AWWW poor pup. He is probably confused, and has never had proper training obviously. Have you tried crate training? You could put the pee pads in there with him until he gets it. Or put him in a small room with the pee pads. Put a couple of them down and tape them in place if you can. And when he does go on them TONS of LOVE and PRAISE would give him the self asteem boost he needs. Keep trying, and Good Luck.

I would try crate training with the wee wee pads. Or put him in a small room with the wee wee pads. He will need a large area covered at first and then slowly a smaller area. Try giving him a treat the second he does his buisness on the pad. This will help reinforce this is were he pees. Make sure he gets his treat on the wee wee pad. It might take a little longer then a couple of weeks though. Good Luck!

the next time that he goes wee wee some where other than the pads clean it up with a paper towel or somethig and put it on the pads and put him by it. that way he smells his pee and maybe he will get the idea. when he does use the pads praise him and give him a treat.
