My vet is awesome. I called him in the middle of the night on a Sunday because I had found a stray that had been beaten & was nearly dead. He met me at his office & treated the kitty, even doing surgery on him, even though he had never seen him before. Plus he didn't charge us extra for a late night, weekend call. I've also called him at 2am when one of our rescues went into respiratory distress. He treated her too & called to check on her every day for weeks after she came home. Every time we've had a sick pet he's called personally to check on them, even if it was a weekend or holiday. When you call his office in the middle of the night, you don't get an answering service, you get him & I'm very thankful for that.

We also have a few emergency clinics that are open all night as well as weekends and Sundays. I've had to go to these places a couple times. They're usually pretty pricey but worth it if you need them!

We have several emergency clinics here so there is always somewhere to go. Usually your vet office should give an emergency clinic or a vet on call number on their machine. If they don't you should ask them!

Yes I have. My dad and I were taking my two dogs for our usual long walk. We were half way home and Blaze, my sheltie, started walking funny and stopping. All of a sudden he leaned upagainst my dad's leg, statrted shaking and fell. When he went to stand up, he was having trouble. His head was stuck looking to the left and he couldn't walk. I called my mom and told her to come get us. Waiting for her to get there felt like forever. It was a Tuesday night around 9:00, the vet definately wasn't open. Luckily I knew there was an Emergency vet about 15minutes away. As we got near where it was, I realized that the building was dark. I hadn't known they moved. I had their number so I called and found out it was right down the street. They kept him over night. I was so worried though. They didn't know what had caused his seizure and stroke and said that it may be an onset of a seizure disorder or justa fluke. That happened in October and he's been good since, knock on wood.

We,ve had one serious emergency. Last year we were traving through North Carolina, when our Rotty developed Bloat. We got on the horn to a relative, who accessed the internet, found the closest clinic and relayed the info to us. The clinic was 40 miles away. Enroute to the clinic, our dog vomited, clearing the condition, and by the time we reached the clinic, she was fine.(We gained a few gray hairs on that day !)

Thank goodness we have an after hours emergency clinic in Spring Hill. Over the years I would of lost 2 pets if they didn't exist. It always seems when a real emergency arises it's always on the weekend or a holiday-pretty scary...

Called the emergency vet clinic in Iowa City - about 28 miles away, and took him there. We are fortunate to have this place so close, and it is open 24/7!
