Dogs will often scratch at an injection site and a microchip needle is much larger then the ones used to give vaccinations. It is normal for them to scratch. If implanted properly there is no way your dog could ever scratch one out.

No, I have several cats who have been implanted with a chip and none of them seem to bother it. Check your pet to see if there is any sign of infection in the area where the chip has been planted. Possibly there is a problem with the site.

my dogs are chipped-I didn't think it would be possible for them to scratch it out-you could always have your vet take a look at it
