Q: Has anyone ever done vet tech online programs?
I am so ready do to do something with my life, my passion is animals. Every one says go back to school to be a vet tech but it all sounds so over whelming. I won't lie I am scared to death. I am 28yrs old and a single mom of 2. I know it would be some thing that I would be good at but man I there is so many schools online which do you chose. Please if anyone can help me I would appreciate it a lot.

Before you consider it, I'd check with your local vets to see if there is a demand for those jobs. A friend of mine lost her full time job as a vet tech and has been having a hard time finding one that's full time. She said they seem to want part timers.

Yes, two of my friends are currently doing on-line programs. It helps to be employed with a vet before you start for many reasons. First you will want to know the job requirements (see if you can handle the stress, gore, and physical requirments!), second the course will require some hands on experience and lab type stuff. I didn't take any classes, I just had on the job training. I was lucky enough to work for a vet who invested in my education. You can do it!! Think of it as an investment for your children, and yourself! Almost anywhere in the country needs vet techs! I can tell you from personal experience that it is a VERY rewarding, but VERY challenging job. Good Luck!! I can find out where their classes are from if you want!!

St Petersburg College has a great on-line program. My step-daughter is doing that now. She loves it. Good luck
