For my dwarf hamster, I use a large fish tank and bought a screen top for it. It's incredibly easy to clean and fun because you can see everything that your little buddy does.
One little project that I would suggest is to build a multiple-story house for your hamster out of clean cardboard: Using a clean, thick cardboard, a boxcutter & non-toxic glue... it's kind of like constructing a gingerbread house where you have to cut each side and attatch them. Make different windows, doors & entrances for them to climb through. Use the non-toxic glue to attach and hold the pieces together with sewing pins. Remove the pins when it dries!
It gives them something to play in, climb & chew on and will replace the lack of levels that you would normally find in a cage. Both you & your ham will absolutely LOVE it.

My favorite is Indoor Complete by Nutro. I will send you a picture of my 9 year old cat. She has eaten another brand that we used that is organic, but it is hard to find. Ellen DeGeneras talks about Halo, but I have not found that cat food yet. I have taken my cat with me to Costa Rica and the Bahamas and i have found Nutro in these countries as well.

I have a hamster and Habitrail is my favorite. They don't seem that big, but they have a quiet wheel are easy to clean and the hamster just loves living in it. The newer cages can be carried easily.
