I am so not a great groomer but this is what I keep on hand:
Clippers and clipper oil
Brush
FURminator
shears
nail clippers: cat clippers for both the kittehs and guinea pigs//nail clippers with a guard on them for the dog so when she jerks that I cannot clip into the quick
EpiOtic for all the animals if they are itching or have wax buildup//guinea pigs, cats and dog
I don't carry styptic powder on me and my clippers are cheap $45

You will need:
Professional clipper (usually costs around $130)
Blades for the clipper (10,15, 30, 7, 5, 4, 3...)
Greyhound comb
Shears (a straight at least 8", a curved, a thinner/blender, and a pair of trim scissors for around toes and eyes)
Brushes (slicker, pin brush, and furminator or stripping knife)
Nail clippers and stypic powder
Hemostats & ear powder
A mat splitter is helpful
This is basic start up stuff, as you go on you will find your kit will grow.

you will need a clipper, I really like the Andis super 2 speed,
a slicker brush in soft and hard
clipper blades sizes, 3,4,5,7,10,15,30 or 40
comb attachments
metal comb's
rake
matt breaker
nail clipper's large and small
thinners
good scissors 8 1/2 inch and a smaller pair
thats it to start but the equipment dosn't make a great groomer all though it helps the person is what makes a great groomer, good luck and hope you have great success
