Do you folks like the new Greenies? Do you give them to your dog? What size dog and what size Greenie?

I give my dog no more than 1 large greenie a week. She just gobbles them down. One thing I do, is go to the local butcher shop and get a couple bones. Boil them at home. After the bone is hollow from the dog eating the marrow. I then mix the greenie bits and peanut butter together and stuff the bone. I also do this with the kong. My dog doesn't play with toys, so this gives her a long task to keep her occupied.

I have ALWAYS had trouble with Greenies upsetting every dog I have given them to. As a vet assistant I have seen many of the same problems and my research show many down sides to Greenies.

I think Greenies are too risky to take a chance giving.

Yes, I feed my shiba the new Greenies. He likes them and has no problems with them. I feed him the petite size. He gets one Greenie every day; his teeth collect tarter fast even though we brush his teeth, don't feed him wet dog food, and don't feed him human food. He also hates chewing on bully sticks and stuff we give him to chew on. He will chew on it for 5 minutes a week, so Greenies help a lot.

No. They are not fully digestible and two dogs that I know of had to have surgery to remove the pieces from their intestines.

Pickle loves Greenies. They are a special treat reserved for after a Pet Therapy visit.

My shepherd/labs are given a large greenie twice a week. Not only do they love them but I have not had to have their teeth cleaned in 3 years. There is now no tartar. One dog was having them cleaned twice a year and really needed cleaning four times a year but the anesthesia is not recommended that often. Now he doesn't have them cleaned at the dentist at all. I think they are great.

Our dog loves them but goes through them way too fast! I would rather get her a hard bone from the butcher as it lasts longer. She does get greenies but very infrequently.

My cat Phaaraoh just loves them. They are vitamins so I keep them with our vitamins. Every night I put ours out in tiny glass bowls set on our glass top stove. As soon as he hears the clink of the glass he comes running for his treats. Raw hides can be dangerous - they don't digest.
