My mom said she may get a great dane in the future if she could afford to feed it I know they are big dogs we do have a huge fenced backyard and a big enough house. But I was wondering and I need amounts for a week, a month and a year so how much does it cost to feed a great dane in all three of these time lines?

There are breed specifics but every dog is different and it will depend on the size of the dog, its activity level, and many other factors. As a general rule, Great Danes eat anywhere from 3 to 6 cups of premium dog food twice a day. Its imperitive that they maintain optimal protein levels at around 24% and fat levels around 12%. Otherwise they can have health problems. Danes are prone to health problems so your mom needs to not only consider the cost of feeding one, but as in the case of having any pet, she needs to consider vetting costs. Danes are prone to Wobblers, hip dysplasia, cardiomyopathy, bloat, hypothyroidism, and Addisn's Disease among other things. If you can't afford to pay for the vet care, you can't afford the pet.
