Q: Ginger EATS her toys if she can chew them!

My puppy Ginger (she's actually about 2 years old now) loves her toys. Stuffed animals especially, or ropes or anything she can play tug a war with, although we try not to play that game with her. The only problem is is that she destroys everything. We haven't found a single thing yet that Ginger can't ruin, even her dog bowl, which is really heavy and ceramic or clay or something, she has chipped, and we got the specifically so she couldn't chew it or carry it around! And any stuffed animal she gets, she'll tear the limbs and ears and nose and eyes off and try to eat them, just to get in trouble and get your attention. Is there any such thing as an indestructable toy for the little demon dog? I found a stuffed bear that she likes that she hasn't quite ruined yet, and it has hard plastic inside. Do they have other stuffed animals like that?

I have the same problem with my German Shorthaired Pointer Holly. Do NOT waste your money on the Kongs they do not last very long. The Best thing that I have found is a rope that I bought at Petsmart. It is about 3 feet long and has huge knots in it. My Shepard even plays with it. It has lasted two days so far!!! So we will see ;)

Same thing with my Charlie, his first Christmas we got him a giant stocking full of toys we bought and he broke most of them in the first 10 minutes. The best things we found are the more flexible rubber, not the plastic-like rubber because that is too easy to chew apart. Balls are good because there aren't things sticking out to chew on (Charlie especially loves the squeaky soccer balls, he has 3 right now!) He also has a bear, but it's his second, he destroyed the first. This one is exactly the same as the first, I don't know why it lasted longer. I guess, once something has a small hole or something in it, take it away immediately so they don't have the chance to absolutely destroy it.

Think about what dogs can do with their teeth. Stuffed animals are a gift and I've seen dogs shred and tear them apart in less than a minute. If you don't mind cleaning up, give it to them so long as they don't consume it. If they consume it, I would recommend giving them non-destructible toys.
