As long as you feed your kitty a complete & balanced diet, there isn't a pat answer. Once or twice a day is appropriate for your kitty as long as your baby is healthy & has no special needs ~ diabetes or the like.
If you are only going to give your angel a dry diet providing lots of fresh water is essential especially if they are prone to developing urinary tract blockages.
A mix of canned w/ dry is what I believe is best.
If your cat tends to be a bit finicky switching food occasionally tends to curb your kitty from becoming to attached to a particular diet.
Good Luck!

Usually the bag/can of food has chart to help you figure out how much your cat should be eating. It is not always a good amount, though, so try to keep an eye on your cat's weight and adjust as needed.
Your vet may also be able to help figure out how much the cat should eat.

I don't have cats, dogs, but "babysit" for my friends 2, he leaves a bowl of dry food & a bowl of water out all day and he splits wet cat food in a.m & p.m either those little bags or a small can, they look great and seem to be really healthy
