What are some recipes for healthy dog treats? I want to make sure that they are not going to make my dog sick.

Making your own dog treats is a tricky proposition, especially if the goal is to avoid all the problematic ingredients found in commercially prepared treats. Most treat recipes you find online (and there are tons, you can find them just by googling "dog treat recipes") contain corn meal and/or wheat flour, and corn and wheat are common allergens for dogs. Some of the best treats I've made at home are just dried meats... sliced liver or hearts, or any of a number of muscle meats (chicken breasts, etc) in a dehydrator with no seasonings or additives whatsoever. But honestly, I'm far too lazy to find and prepare an allergen-free treat, so I simply read ingredients in commercially available products to make sure that they are treats I feel comfortable giving my dog.

I'd get a book with organic biscuit recipes. That would seem to be the best bet. Sheltervt has a great point about making sure that your dog doesn't have any allergies to wheat & corn, as many dogs have this issue (particularly terriers).
