The thought of dog pounds seems so horrible to me. But do all dog pounds put down their dogs if there not out by certian time?

I believe the term "Shelter" is being used more and many shelters are No Kill Shelters. There are some that must refuse dogs or cats because of the amount of space they have and many shelters work hand in hand with Foster moms & dads that do the best they can to keep homeless pets, partly for socialization and partly because it's the only place left.
I visit a cat rescue place online, all cats or kittens are in foster care. Yesterday they had a new cat that was found in a shelter with an abcess on her leg, after 3 surgeries & healing time she's ready to be adopted. It was so wonderful to read that so much time and work had been put into her, not sure about $$$ but she's alive, healthy, socialiized & ready to be someones sweetie. I'm sure there are similar happy ending dog stories too.
