In our city you can not keep, at one location in the city, more than a total of four (4) dogs or cats over the age of six months. Otherwise you must qualify for a kennel license. We're in Columbia, Missouri, home of the Central Missouri Humane Society, one of the top 10 finalists in the makeover contest. We'd appreciate your votes!!!

Many of the municipalities in New Jersey have limit laws. It is up to each town to determine how many pets what are willing to allow their residents to have.
Many of the towns allow 3 dogs and 3 cats which I feel is reasonable. Anything over those amounts in some towns requires a kennel license.

I don't know about Columbia limiting the number of animals, but I live in an association that does. We are limited to two animals per household and we can't have home-based businesses like pet sitting, grooming or breeding services. I think this is to keep down the noise since our town homes are attached.

I am shocked to hear that there are so many places with limit laws. Are we not concerned?

All animals are to be licensed and with three or more animals you need to call the city for in-home expection with approval.

I known according to the humane society you are suppose to have 1 animal per level of house. (as far as cats go anyway)
As far as "legal" amount of animals, i think if you have over 4 dogs you need a permit.

We are limited to three animals per household in our town. There is no directive on what the animals are. I had two dogs and one cat when we moved here.

I guess I can understand why there are limits. But only 1 of each is rediculous! I have 3 dogs & that's more than enough for me to handle.
