She isn't always always on a leash but when we are outside walking or going to some place.....We live in a neighborhood and if my dog gets off her leash she will run, run, run..... and we have to chase after her. We usually get her but I don't want it to happen and she ends up getting lost..... what do I do?

Yes, unless in a fenced in area!

According to our dog trainer you need to practice the "come" command at home a lot. Unfortunately it hasn't worked that well for us. If she sees something she wants she doesn't look back.

WE don't leash our dog if she is just going outside. But if we want to take her for a walk forget it the leash has to be on. I would love to be one of those people that can walk with their dogs off the leash but i'm thinking that maybe it's for the better if she is on a leash.

Depending on the breed some dogs never can be trusted off leash. My daughter has an American eskimo and if she gets out she's hard to catch. She's had her since she was a baby and she's 12 now.

We have a leash law in our town so we keep her on the leash most of the time. Occaisionally we give her a few minutes just to run around as long as she is being good and comes back as soon as we call her, but we watch her the whold time.

First of all, make sure that your dog has a identification tag and a microchip implant so if she does run off she can be returned to you. Secondly I would recommend taking her to a dog park 2-3 times a week and let her off the leash in the enclosed park so she can run, run, run and when you are at home keep her on the leash.

If you ask me you should let it in the house sometimes
