Q: Does the flea pill really work?

February 17, 2009 | By Britt22 | 26 answers | Expired: 1874 days ago

my german shepherd is an inside dog, but she does spend quite a bit of time outdoors, I was just wondering if the flea pill is worth buying.

I don't have a dog, but my bf does and he got advantage for his two dogs last summer(one is a big lab/husky mix and the other is a smaller pure husky)and it worked great! not sure about a pill though...thought they only had pills for heartworm and stuff like that not for flea control...best bet to talk to your vet really. sorry if this doesn't help!

I've heard tht Comfortis is really good. I have a foster that has severe flea allergies so I will use it with her. It is fairly expensive so not all the kids will go on it. We'll keep using Frontline for the others.

I am not a fan of chemicals on my animals unless absolutely necessary. Flea season is short in my area with long winters and short summers. I haven't had a flea problem in winter, but I do use treatments as prevention in summer. This works well for our pets. I only use the chemicals during peak seasons or when I have a flea outbreak.
