I have always wondered why cats LOVE it, but other animals could care less. Is there anything out there that has that affect for dogs?

Interestingly enough the "susceptibility" to catnip is genetic. So there are some cats from whom catnip does nothing and others that it gets 'high as the proverbial kite'! To my knowledge no other animals besides the felines have the receptors that make them sensitive to catnip.
