I agree with everyone's answers, she indeed is a Tortie...but...
She is not a Tortie because of the amount of white fur, common for shorthairs and several other breeds, but the Tortie effect does indeed make her very distinctive. She is a common shorthair.
Probably her father had the Tortie gene in him, but it didn't come out until his litter. (Yes, I know the mother gives the litter). Her mother was likely a red or red & white shorthair, allowing her to keep the beautifully distinctive white marks.
Whatever your cat is, she IS beautiful.

As far as breed, your cat looks to be Domestic Shorthair, like you said. Her coloring/patterning is not calico though. She appears to be a tortie (tortoiseshell).

I believe she is a brown patched mackerel tabby and white.
Another way to describe the color is "calico tabby."
Essentially, she's a calico (which is patches of red, black, and white) with mackerel (striped) tabby on top.
No matter how you describe her color, she's lovely!

I would call her a torti-tabby with white, domestic short hair.
