Q: Does anyone know of some really durable chew toys?

My Beagle/Bassett/Corgi mix dog is a big chewer, and some toys that I have purchased have lasted for about 5 minutes, and others, like the Kong line seem to last forever. Does anyone have any other suggestions for very durable toys>

My 10 month old lab/heeler mix is a powerful chewer. We have gone through so many chew toys and all destroyed. She chews through everything in minutes. What does work for her is the classic Kong. We bought her one that is a bigger size and the black one to and she does get everything out of it in less then 30 minutes so we started freezing it and it takes her a little longer. She also really likes the Nylabones altough is only 43lbs and we had to buy the wolf size and next time we will go one size bigger. She really likes beef bones by natures variety. we buy them at our local petstore. They are in a freezer and come in a two pack. MJ loves them and it takes a while for her to chew all the marrow out. They last hours and hours. Even after the meaty stuff is gone she will chew on the bone. We bought the first one about 6 months ago and she still has the bone and chews on it.

Yep Kong is one of the best durable chewy toys (of course my dog still destroys them). You should also look at chuckit products as they are also super durable. They have some of the most durable frisbees that have last at least 5 months. Of course on all chewy toys I watch my dog at first and if he starts ripping it I put it up and he can only play with it when he's being supervised. If he likes chewing you might get him a big meaty bone from the petstore or supermarket for him and he can eat it whenever without being too closely supervised. I know it's tough having a toy destroyer! Good luck.

My Weim is a very aggressive chewer and the only toys that have really held up are the Black Kongs and the Incredible Strapping Yankers toys.
