I took my year old lab across country and stayed at Super 8
Almost all of them take pets.

I have stayed at Holiday Inn Express with my dogs and Red Roof Inn. Most hotels/motels require a deposit and nightly fee for dogs, so call ahead to find out pricing. The Red Roof Inn we stayed at did not charge any pet fees though. When I am preparing to travel with my dogs, I look up hotels online by searching yellow pages or google for the area I will be staying. Usually the hotel has a website that will list the pet policy. I always call ahead to reserve a room nearest an exit if possible and let them know I'm bringing my dogs. I wouldn't want to get there and have the only hotel in town that allows dogs be full, so it's best to make a reservation if possible.

The best thing that I can think of is to go to www.petswelcome.com. They have listings of pet friendly hotels, ski resorts, campgrounds, and beaches. You can search hotels near where you are going. It is a great site. Good luck!

My friend has had luck with Hampton Inns but you'd better check the individual place. I think some only have a certain number of rooms where they allow pets.
