Q: Does Anyone Know of Companies that Give Donations If Their Employees Volunteer Their Time

I know that a number of companies (Prudential being one of them), donate money to your shelter if a number of their employees volunteer.

Anyone know where I can get a list of these companies?

I've never heard of such a thing but I think it would be a great idea. I like it even better then the "matching gift" concept that many companies do. Try some Internet searching or how about contacting some of the big companies that do matching gifts and speaking to their human resources department. They might be able to tell you where you can get such a list. You can also try checking with major institutions that have a lot of volunteers.

As far as I know there are a number of companies that have employee volunteer programs that make monetary donations based on volunteer time spent by their employees. I think IBM is one, but I'm not sure. You probably can find out online by doing a search on "employee volunteer programs." You can also check out the "Points of Light" and "Volunteer Match" sites, they may have some information on specific companies.

If you are interested in getting donations for your cause and shop online, check out the "I Give" site. I believe there is also one called something like "Good Search" that helps too.

I work for County Government. They do not give cash but they do allow employees to volunteer 1.5 hours a month during work time. Time = money
