I have an eight month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and her ears have really been itching her. I've been cleaning them every other day. But I would love suggestions on what else I could do to help her.

I had a golden retriever for 14 years who suffered from chronic ear infections for most of his life and was deaf the last 3 years. When my new golden puppy got his first ear infection at the age of six months, I said to my vet, "I just can't do this for another 14 years." She told me to try giving Rags Acidopholous every day. It comes in pill or capsule form and you find it in the vitamins section of drug stores and supermarkets. It's very cheap and in Rag's eight years of life he has had exactly one more ear infection. I tell everyone about this, it's such an easy, inexpensive solution. I give Rags one pill in a gob of peanut butter every morning and his ears are nice and clean and not smelly. Try it!

My puppy has floppy ears and she gets an ear infection all the time. My vet gave me some medicine to clean out her ears and that has worked but she walways gets them back. Make sure you pull out a little hair from her ears everyday. That causes the ear infections my vet told me.They have some powder stuff you can put a little in her ear and pull out the hair with your fingers. It gets it really good!!! The brand is R7. And they have cleaners and also some drying powder stuff as well. It's like a 3 step thing and it works.

I have the same issue with my Dachshund. Get medicine fromt he vet to clear up the infection if it is one and then my vet suggested a swimmer's ear type cleaner to use to help prevent future ear infections.
