Q: Does anyone else have a problem with their Jack Russell's getting car sick?
I have three Jack Russell's. I also do a newspaper route and have taken each one with me. They all get car sick. I do a lot of stopping and going so I was wondering if anyone else had problems with their Jack's getting sick in cars. The are securely fastened down and they can't move around in the truck. Even with that they still do it. I found it kind of strange that just my Jack's get sick like that. None of my min pins have ever gotten sick from riding. Actually they are boys, and no they are not brother. I have one girl but the other two are boys.

My dog's not a Jack Russell, but he gets car sick. He's a rottie mix. A bigger mess. The vet said he'd probably outgrow it, but he didn't. She recomended giving him the medicine (can't think of what it is, right now, duh!)that people take for motion sickness. You can buy it over the counter. She even had a formula for the right dosage to administer. You might call a vet and ask them if they know of it.

You might ask your vet for advice as lots of dogs have this problem. Some people give benadryl and say it really helps, cause you can give benadryl as allergy prevention on a daily basis so it is pretty safe stuff! A dog we used to have was best off in a harness with the collar between the harness and seatbelt and wihtout a lot of room to move around - just sit there in the seat. When they can't see things moving by inthe window and don't move around that also might help.
