A tablespoon or so of canned pumpkin is also good for dogs and most of them love it. Pumpkin is loaded with beta-carotene, viamin A, E and C, potassium and fiber to name a few. Just don't use the kind that has spices added to it.

first the don'ts
chocolate, grapes, raisins, garlic, onions, macadamia nuts.

Now the fun stuff, ours love raw carrots, apples, bananas but only with peanut butter on them, green beans and cooked carrots i add to their dog food every now and then for a treat. They also like yogurt which is good for them, and cooked broccli or cauliflower in moderation. Ours do not seem to like tomatoes, green pepper or radishes but we tried.

Daisy likes cooked vegetables, like broccoli, cauliflower, lima beans, carrots. I agree not to give them alot, but they most likely won't eat alot anyway because they are carnivores and like meats and protein.

My dogs like apples but love it with peanut butter. they also like bananas. i know a dog that the only treats he gets is carrots and he loves them. my dogs do not though. so you should just get a little of different fruits and veg that are not toxic to them and see what your dog likes

It's easier to list what is toxic than what is safe. My dogs love potatoes, apples, carrots. STAY AWAY from grapes, mushrooms, garlic, pistaccio nuts, apple seeds, and obviously chocolate.

Basically, a good rule of thumb is -- everything in moderation! Even my dogs on occasion have eaten the "bad stuff" and have been fine. I'm not condoning giving them to your animal but mistakes happen, just don't give large amounts of anything you aren't sure is safe, or don't give it at all.

For the most part a dog can eat what you can eat, but in smaller quantity (dogs are not obligate carnivores like cats - they need a little vegetation in their diet). Lots of dogs like carrots, mine like apples, I have tried a little of everything. You never want to feed a dog grapes, raisins, mushrooms or onions(garlic is in the same family, I wouldn't feed it in large amounts, but it is found in a lot of treats and such). All are or can be toxic. Chocolate and macadamia nuts are bad too. Seeds or stones of many fruits can contain cyanide. Broccoli and cauliflower can be bad in large amounts. When I am trimming them sometimes a pice hits the floor and Chinu will hoover it up - she's never had a problem! Mine like asparagus of all things!
Have fun finding out what your dog likes.
