Does any one have any recipes for dog treats?

I know that there are people who make dog treats but are they good for them and how do you make them?

i am in heavy training with our 4 month old puppy, and she gets tired of treats fast! But she will do anything for italian sausage and peperoni. I've just cut up some pieces of carrot and cheese for her as well to keep it different. I only give her small portions of everything since we are training all the time. We want to maintain her health.

Thanks for this recipe. My dog loves peanut butter cookies for dogs from our local store and were they ever expensive. I will try this. Thumbs Up.

We found a recipe online that we just made for our dog's birthday party. All the dogs loved them. I can't remember the URL, but here is the recipe.
Ingredients
1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup oil, 2 eggs, 3 Tbsp Peanut Butter, 2 tsp vanilla, 2 cups four, 1/2 cup of cornmeal, 1/2 cup of oats.
Blend the wet ingredients together and mix into a wet mixture to form a ball of dough (we had to add extra flour here to keep them from being too sticky). Roll out and shape. We rolled it out to about 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick. Cut into shapes (we used circles). Put onto a nonstick cooking tray or lightly greased one. Cook 20 minutes at 400 F. Turn off the oven and allow biscuits to cool in the oven until crisp and hard.

I've been meaning to try some of the treat recipes on this site. Maybe there might be one there your dog would like?

If you want a non-cookie type treat, try making your own doggie ice cream. Much cheaper than the store bought kind. You can mix yogurt with peanut butter, applesauce, honey, whatever your dogs like, and freeze it in small cups. My guys love it!

Years ago, I went to the library and got a book loaded with dog and cat treats. Some of them were well received (more so by the dogs) but others caused some noses to turn up in the air (more so by the cats).
