Diane

I was wondering if anyone used a mat in front of the kitty box for gritty paws.

I used to use a mat with regular cat litter but since I have changed to scoopable litter, no longer feel the need for one. The scoopable litter creates less mess.

I use a mat in from of the litter box. It catches a lot of the mess and keeps my floor a little cleaner.

I use a mat. I bought a special one at the pet store after trying a few different carpets and trays. The mat that I have now works great. It traps a lot of the litter and keeps the mess of the floor.

I just use several old rugs to help trap the litter from being tracked all over the house...it does prevent a lot of the mess. I haven't tried one of those trays specifically for this purpose...I am not convinced they are worth the money and do any better job than just plain old rugs. Plus the rugs add some warmth to the cement floor in my utility room in the basement.

I use to because one cat of mine, Beanie, would miss the litter box entirely and end up urinating on the floor next to the box. The solution was to get a larger, deeper litter box. End of problem....some litter does still get kicked out of there however.....Beanie gets in there and rolls around like he is at the beach!

Yes I use a small kitchen type carpet next to the box. He usually uses it, but sometimes will just step over it.

The only time I put a mat down by the litter box is when we go camping in our travel trailer.

We use a mat. I thought about getting one of the ones made specifically for the cat boxes (you know, the rubber ones) but they were just expensive and I ended up getting a bath mat. It works just fine- can shake it out, wash it, and it matches my bathroom, unlike the ugly silver rubber mat.

We have one box where the cat insists on peeing next to it. So we have a plastic mat with ridged edges in front to try to catch it--makes clean up a little easier. It would be even easier if she would cooperate, but at least she's meeting us half-way.
