Diane

I was wondering if anyone used a mat in front of the kitty box for gritty paws.

It varies with the location of the box and what I am trying to protect. I usually use either a plastic carpet runner or a clear plastic tablecloth cover underneath/around the boxes. But in the laundry room and game room, I use large metal (rabbit/small animal) cage drop trays.

We have a mat that is a little bit bigger than the box so that the mat will be exposed on all sides to help get off any stuck litter to his paws. It's easy to clean off. Just take it outside and shake it off.

I've tried mats but found them too hard to keep clean. It's easier for me to just sweep up using a handheld vaccum cleaner.
