Do find that men and women prefer a male or female pet? Are male and female pets really that different?

As long as they are spay or neutered I have not had a problem with male or female, I guess I prefer to get a male and female to match up the pair. They only thing I have notice with my female Border Collie pees outside the male has to pee right over were she peed, if a have a visiting dog over my male pees over the same area, but I guess it is his domain.

I have had both male and female dogs and I prefer female dogs because males mark their territory more. They will wet on your walls, the legs of your furniture and anything else. They also will embarrass you when you have company by grarbbing their arm or leg and start humping.

When I was a kid we had only female pets. My mom said males peed and sprayed things more. She felt females were cleaner.

But ,now since I have been on my own. I have had cats and ALL have been male so far. I didn't plan it that way. I would still get a female. It just worked out I have males, now. I love em all!

It does not matter to me. I like both female or male pets.

I enjoy both male and female dogs and cats. I have found that females tend to be more of one person pets, where as the males are more generally accepting of everyone. Also, my males tend to be more lovey dovey than the females. But I love them all for their individual personalities:)

I have had male and female dogs, cats, bunnies, and guinea pigs. I found that in most cases, my males have been more cuddly and my females more independent. However, that could just be in my case :)

Both...in humans and other species I feel none is better or easier to keep than the other. Now you bring up the question if other species are all female to begin with in the first stages of development as humans are.

Kath, this is a good question! But, since my pets have always been rescues, it never really mattered. I've had female and male dogs and cats! I don't really choose them, they choose me! Once they have my heart, it doesn't make a hill of beans whether they are a boy or a girl!

I will always and forever have male dogs, I find female dogs too stubborn and less eager to please (though I know many people disagree). I like female small animals better (rats, rabbits and gerbils) mostly because they are cleaner. I have also had more luck with male cats than female cats, but don't care much for cats in general. I am female, and have male friends who prefer female dogs...maybe there is some underlying psychological think happening who knows. Mostly I think it is determined by first experiences.

I seriously, love them all.

Currently,I have three females to one male who I think? is gay,not that this is a bad thing! lol~

In the future,I would prefer a more equal crew but it depends on who, picks me because I truly believe that each animal chooses their person or ppl.
