Q: Do you plan your vacation around your pet?

It is that time of year, Vacation.
I always plan my Vacation around my pets, if I can not bring them, I don't go there!
It can be a challenge but one well worth it for me, I know some might think this is excessive, but after one time of going on Vacation once without Shara, it’s just never happened again.
Even though I left Shara at home with my daughter, she was, well angry (and that is my second choice of words). She did not start acting like herself again for over a week.....ahhh the Guilt Trip!
I was just wondering, how many Zootooers actually plan vacations around their pets like me?
(I would like to think I'm not totally nuts, the Zootooers will let me know, I'm sure)

My fiance and are are waiting until after our wedding and honeymoon to adopt a dog. We will be gone for so long and it would be difficult, or expensive, to find care for a new dog for that long. But, by the end of the summer we will have a dog! Not sure how my cats will feel about that!

I do not think you are nuts. I have been taking a couple vacations a year. On one vacation I take my dogs. On the other I leave them with a pet sitter who takes really good care of them. She has a big home and an acre for them to run. They love it. I do miss them when I go, though and am always happy to come home to them.

depends on the length i guess. a weekend getaway on occasion is okay, but i don't think i could stand to leave them for an entire week. one of my dogs hates new places and has separation anxiety if i'm not there. shes pretty old so instead of using her last couple of years to fix it, which will stress her out, i cater to her needs...which also means no vacations for me. ah well, the little girls certainly worth it.
