Q: Do you plan vacations with your dogs?

Many of my dog friends plan their vacations to places they can bring their dogs with them. I was curious if this is becoming more common.

I have taken ernie on the plane with me to visit family in AZ. and we have always had road trips to visit family and friends. He loves to travel.

We usually bring our dogs! What would a family vacation be when you are missing part of your family...LOL!

The best vacation we ever took, we took all three of our dogs with us. We stayed in a pet friendly cabin in the mountains in north Georgia. We took our pets hiking with us and when we wanted to go someplace that didn't allow dogs, we left them in their crates in the cabin. It was just like being at home.
There are a lot of web sites that list pet friendly destinations.

Yes, when we plan vacations it is always somewhere we can bring our dog. Main reason is we do not ever want to leave her in a kennell.

We plan day or weekend trips with our dog Molly, but not plane trips. Air travel is too stressful for dogs. It is possible. Molly flew from St.Louis, MO to Frankfurt, Germany, but this was a necessary trip, not an optional one. But a car trip is fun. She gets a nice nap in the back of the CRV, and then a lot of new interesting smells. She has even been to a beer museum. Most churches and museums don't allow dogs though, so the human travelers either have to take turns seeing the sights or the weather has to be cool enough (but not cold) so that she can stay in the car. If we are going on a long trip or going on a day trip that is not dog-friendly, we take Molly to "camp" (a kennel).
