Do you have those cute wild monk/Quaker parrots living near you?, if so WHERE do you live???
I live in southern Calif. and have been aware of colonies of these wild parrots living near us. They were diminshing there for a while but appear to be back and in bigger force than ever. I missed them, don't want them living in my yard-so noisy- but glad they fly over twice a day.

We have them. I live in CT. The power companies wanted to do the same here and euthanize the birds, but a group managed to get a bunch of nest platforms erected. Still have some birds, but not as many.

No, we never had feral monk parrots (aka Quaker parrots/parakeets) in our area. They are funny parrots, though and are great talkers ;-)

I live in northeastern IL. For years we had flocks of them by us. They were loud squawkers and would perch in our backyard trees. They lived in huge nests built on the electric lines a few blocks from us. The nests were massive! They reminded me of giant hornet nests, sort of shaped acorns. They had lots of openings where we could see them sticking their heads out. ComEd ripped all of the nests out a few years back and we never saw them again. It was really sad.....I really loved watching them.
