Let's share ideas. What fundraisers have worked well? Give us the details-- we're all in this together!

Our resale shop is a lot of work, but the money is good. Our top fundraising events have been the annual Fur Ball, an art auction, and the annual Water Garden Tour. Before opening the shop, we had semi-annual yard sales. We've also done a lot of other things such as meals, car washes, etc., plus maintaining donation jars in several area businesses. You might check online for vehicle donation services that take care of all the details and send you a check.

Our most successful fundraiser involves a local Harley Davidson dealer. We do a poker run which concludes at the shelter and a reverse raffle. It wouldn't hurt to contact a local dealer. The Harley family of riders are some of the most generous people you will ever meet.

I have a couple of ideas:
1). "Canines for the Cause"

then a Breed specific (Boston Terriers):
2). Host your very own "Boston Marathon.

Good luck.

If your shelter can afford it send some folks to the HSUS Pet Expo in Las Vegas in April. You will meet many people involved in sheltering who will be than happy to share their ideas as well as seminars that can also give you new ideas in a broad spectrum, fundraising, management, health, etc.

Have a Trivia Night. They are fun and typically well participated. Within the past month, we attended a trivia fundraiser for 4H, our local school, VFW, church... Great fun!

I am an Independent Consultant with a company called Arbonne that makes all natural health and wellness products. We work with lots of organizations to help them raise money through sales of our products. I know lots of companies do this, but usually the charity only gets a small percentage of sales. With Arbonne, you get a minimum of 35% of sales, and it can be up to 50% depending on the total sales! It's fun and the products are excellent! Even a small event can easily raise $100's! It's a great thing to do just before Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or Christmas when people are looking for gift ideas as well.

Bake sales or jewelry sales - make all the stuff yourself. People really appreciate and enjoy hand-made goodies and treats!! :)
