Do you have a cat who could care less about Catnip?

I'm just curious, Pippit is just over a year old now and she has absolutely no interest in Catnip.

I've tried all types, shapes and interesting little containers to peek her interest, but nope, she just does not care for it.

Give her an empty box instead, now that is fun....

Does your cat enjoy catnip?

I have a couple who don't care for catnip. The reaction to catnip is genetic & anywhere from 10 - 30% of cats don't have the gene. They won't respond no matter what kind of catnip you give them. Also, kittens younger than about 12 weeks old usually don't respond. If your cat doesn't respond to catnip, you can try valerian or honeysuckle which have a different chemical. I had a cat who used to go crazy for valerian. There are toys you can buy online that have these herbs in them instead of the catnip too.

Both of my cats are completely uninterested in catnip. I've only tried one kind though. But, they enjoy so many other things. The laser toy gets Buddy really excited and Grease loves to chase this stuffed feather toy.

Our Maxwell is like your Pippit. He would much rather have an empty box or an empty paper bag to play with than catnip. He shows very little interest in catnip. It is fun to watch him with the boxes and bags, though, so whatever makes him happy.

my boyfriends cat has no interest in it either. we've been meaning to try him on honeysuckle to see if he'd get into that instead.

Hi! I have 3 cats, 12,9 and 1 years old. Our oldest cat Shadow could care less about catnip. The smell, the toys themselves, do nothing for him. Our other 2 however go ga-ga over catnip and will happily pounce, lick and scuffle with their catnip sacks for hours. Catnip has a very 'herb-like' smell to it. If you buy a container of just catnip you'll be able to smell it. It's been my experience that either they like it or they don't :)

All 3 of our cats really like catnip, they get a little crazy though! I also have 2 fosters and one loves it and the other one doesn't care at all. He's also mostly blind, so I thought I could get him to be a little more active and interested in playing by giving him catnip since his sense of smell is so sensitive, but he totally ignores it! He likes any wand toys and those crinkly mylar balls. He also gets pretty into attacking the dogs squeaky toys, which are the same size as him.

Hehe I have 4 cats and foster lots of kittens - they don't really care about cat nip. I have bought a little toy that looks like a pouch and says "cat nip" on it and my fat cat Gracie liked holding it in her paws and kicking it but maybe it was just the toy and not the nip.

My cats are really picky. My dog will eat celery, cucumber, spinach, anything. If I don't give my cats tuna, they give me the finger.

I have 4 cats and none of them care about catnip. Their favorite things to do: my first 3 who are brother and sisters and were feral like to play in a paper bag. The fourth one, who was abandoned, likes to play with an empty paper towel roll with a ball inside it.
