Q: Do you give your pet "people food"?
Welllllll.... they get the crusts off my toast, they get to lick the dish, a little piece of my Chex Mix, and anything I might drop on the floor. I'm sure they would eat a full burger meal, with milk shake & fries if I let them!! Do you think it's because it smells soooo good to them or just because we're eating it, so they want some too?

Every day! Of course, I do not feed food that is filled with lots of fat, gravies, etc. but I don't eat that way so nothing to worry about.
They relax during each meal without looking at the table. They know when the forks go down and the last sip of wine is taken, it's clicker trick time with the leftovers.
I've shared my food with my dogs for 20 years and have never had a begging problem. Why? Because they know when it happens - not 'when' I am eating, but 'when' I am done.
Brings me joy! I will even buy extra turkey or roast beef. I might not buy toys, but I enjoy dining with dogs!

Our dog eats anything we are eating, whether or not it has a very appealing smell--such as cooked peas, cut orange slices, and corn. He especially loves grilling out with friends, as he can usually snag a burger or hot dog that falls on the floor, and he also likes to take a few bites of corn on the cob. His latest fad is to lick clean yogurt cups after we have finished eating. On weekends he sometimes gets his own miniature pancake or omelet.
