I know people who just don't go on vacation as a family or at all, becasue they don't want to leave their pets with a sitter. Do you avoid vacations not to leave your pets?

Yup.. with my previous Max, I could leave him with my sister. My sister-in-law would come to my house to feed and check the cats.

Now with my current Max, I don't go on vacations. He needs meds three times a day. I could trust my sister with that. But since he has seizures, I will not leave him. Someday he will leave me, but until then we are one.

I do. If I do vacation, I choose to go to places to get away that allow my pets. I enjoy to camp and travel in the wilderness, which I am fortunate that I have these passions. I also love to go to the beach, but I always search for "dog friendly" areas and hotels to stay. I have been forced to be away from my pets due to my deployments in the Army and I vowed not to leave them, when I can clearly choose to take them with me.

Many parks have pet friendly cabins... take them with you.
