I like giving my dog "Greenies". They are the green chewie bone that looks like a toothbrush. They are great for the dogs teeth for cleaning and makes them whiter and make their breath smell good as well. I also give my dog the hard plastic bone that I think is called Dentabone. It's recommended by Dentists. It really cleans the tartar off their teeth and it's not food so they don't gain weight from it. My dog chews on this all the time instead of things she's not supposed to.

My dogs get 1 or 2 of these each day and our vet says their teeth look like we brush them everyday (which we don't).

Milkbones are typically good for dogs' teeth as they reduce tartar and claim to freshen their breath. However, it's not good for a dog to eat tons of treats instead of their food. I'd try breaking up some milkbones and mixing it in with your dog's food to get him to eat the kibble too. Good luck!

No, they help keep the tartar off of the teeth and they provide some entertainment for the dog.

No. They are supposed to be good for their teeth. If he is eating a lot of them, then you should cut back on his regular food to keep his weight down.
