I have a male dog whos a mix of a beagle and basset. I might be getting another dog in the summer and I was wondering what genders get along better, or if genders even have anything to do with it. He's from the humane society and I dont know if that would effect anything, but I would be getting another dog (if I could) from a humane society or rescue too.

I had two neutered male dogs and had trouble with them marking territory. My brother now has one of the dogs and neither of the dogs have marked since.

Introduce you current dog to any dog you are thinking about adding to your family, preferably on neutral grounds. Then try again at your home(your dogs "turf"). It's more important for your dogs to geta long than what gender they are...assuming the both spayed/or neutered.
